Mr. Frank LaGuardia is the the full-time music specialist at MATES. Students receive instruction in music during the school day twice a week. He has a Music Lab which includes a variety of instruments including keyboards, drums, and guitars.
Beginning Band and Advanced Band are offered during the school day at no additional charge. This is a FREE program available to students in grades 4th and 5th grade. (Parents are responsible for obtaining their child’s musical instrument).
Rehearsals will be held on Zoom until it is safe to rehearse in person. Students who have played their instrument for one year qualify for the advance band. All other students who have never played their instrument qualify for the beginning band.

Band classes begin the week of September 21st and run through May 2021.

Flutes: Mondays 11:15 – 11:40 am
Clarinets: Tuesdays 11:15 – 11:40 am
Saxophones: Wednesday 11:15 – 11:40 am
Trumpets: Thursdays 11:15 – 11:40 am
Percussion: Fridays 11:15 – 11:40 am
Advance Band (2nd year students)
Fridays 12:05 – 12:30 pm

Mates Band Enrollment Fall 2020
Band students typically participate in performances at MATES, march in the Camarillo Christmas Parade in December, and perform in the All-District Band Festival in the Spring. This year all events are TBD and will be determined by State and County regulations.
